Group Travel in Morocco

We have been putting together school group programs in Morocco for over a decade. We realise that safety is by far the biggest consideration, but in addition, foreign travel provides a worthwhile and important learning experience for our children. Morocco is increasingly becomming a huge destination for school trips, but with our knowledge and experience, we can offer your students a trip with a difference. Whether you are looking to trek in Jbel Sahro or around Toubkhal, combine that with a rafting experience and build in safety day rafting the Ahansel River, we are happy to talk you through the adventure every step of the way and share our in depth safety protocols. Trekking

We realise that for different ages and different abilities, trekking can provide unique challenges to a school group. We have treks available from 3 days to 8 days from gorgeous valley walks to challenging trans Atlas crossings to arrive at the start of a rafting trip down the Ahansel River. It is very important for us to know what YOU would like to get out of the trip for you and your students, so we can create the perfect trekking trip for you all. All our mountain leaders are qualified in Morocco and hold First Aid Certifications.

Whitewater Rafting

We can offer trips in Morocco for any ability. The rafting in general operates in the winter and spring months from March until June. Rafting offers a unique perspective on Morocco, travelling by river, stopping at idylic camp spots en route and supporting local schools in the area like we have for the past decade. This is far from white knuckle rafting experience and is the perfect introduction for school children from 10 years to experience this awesome way of travel. Safety kayakers are present on all trips and we have an unblemished client safety record. We operate rafting trips to over 12 countries around the world and our experience is evident from our world class international guides, to our hearty and hygenically prepared food.

Marrakech Hotels and Riads

Stay in centrally located, safe clean hotels and riads for a reasonable price. Lets face it, school kids will want to be our exploring the wonderful Djeema El Fna with you and your other teaching colleagues. You'll have a huge choice of places to stay, but we hope to have you out of Marrakech in a few days exploring the wonderful countryside. All of our accommodation has passed fire and safety tests for use by any of our clients.

Essaouira Rest & Relaxation Phase

Sometimes we have requests for school groups for a rest and relaxation phase in Essaouira on the Atlantic Coast, approximately 4 hours drive from Marrakech. This can be a nice place to relax for a few days where students can swim, explore the great markets and reciver before flying home from their challenge.

We find most of our clients have in their posession already what is needed for a river journey. We have broken down here the items into what you'll need on the river and in camp. An equipment list of what you will require for your adventure will be sent to you prior to your departure.

River Fashion:

A pair of Chacos or similar sandals. Trainers are also okay.
A pair of River shorts or swimming costume.
Long sleeved business shirt to wear under your life jacket in hot destinations.
A baseball cap for under the helmet to keep sun off.
Wide brimmed sunhat.
Sunglasses.
Chums for fastening your sunglasses to your head.
Nalgene or similar water bottle.
Carabiner for fastening water bottle to your boat.
Thermal Top for cooler destinations. Medium weight - Heavyweight Capilene or polypropylene is the best.
Waterproof sunscreen and lip balm SPF15 minimum.

For evenings and around camp

Lightweight long trousers.
Lightweight Long Sleeved shirt.
Fleece jacket.
Ladies should bring a long skirt or sarong to cover your legs whilst in the company of locals.
Underwear.
Glasses or Contact lenses. Disposable lenses are ideal.
Toiletries. Toothbrush, toothpaste, biodegradable soap and shampoo.
Forget the cosmetics and hair dryer! But we do suggest moisturizer.
Hand wipes
A 3-season sleeping bag.
Travel Pillow.
Small pack towel.
Headlamp or head torch and spare batteries.
Shoes or boots for wearing around camp and on hikes.
Insect Repellent.
Any medication you may be taking.

Optional Items

Your favourite book or a journal for recording your river memories.
Sketchpad.
Photographic or video equipment. On most expeditions we provide a waterproof pelicase for these items. We recommend a cleaning kit as sand gets everywhere. Bring a spare memory card or plenty of film. Also bring spare batteries for your camera.
Waterproof disposable for the 'action' on the raft shots.
Swiss Army Knife or Leatherman.
An extra bag to bring back a wooden hippo, a carpet, Thanka or anything else you may purchase on your holiday.
An iPod or other music preferences. We have speakers.

Personal Spending

The only money that you need to bring is for meals in town, souvenirs, DVD, personal items and the beer kitty for the raft trip if you drink. Please remember that many of the countries we visit do offer Credit Card and ATM facilities and for a small charge you can withdraw cash either from your account or Credit Card for convenience.
If you wish to pass on a gratuity to your guide we leave this entirely up to you.
Basically, we advise you to keep things as light as possible, without skimping on the necessities. It is great to bring back a load of goodies for everybody back at home.
